The design of the Grey Street Project aims to create an iconic building form that response to its unique and highly visible location and also to its unique combination of apartments, hotel and public space. Its location in the dynamic South Bank precinct of Brisbane offers opportunities to further enliven this precinct. The scale and visibility of the project from the Brisbane CBD required a considered contribution to the South Bank skyline which is developing as a southern backdrop to Brisbane City.

The design approach is responding to these parameters is at once contextual and expressive. This strategy melds the influences of the sites location and surroundings with the nature of the various functions of the building. Its location at the corner linking South Bank to Brisbane’s convention centres have served to sculpt the external form of the building.
