it’s over… …the road and around the corner! 15 August 2011

On Monday 18 July bureau^proberts open the doors to their brand new office on the Ground Floor of 232A Adelaide Street, in the Brisbane CBD. The heritage listed Commonwealth Government Offices building, adjacent Anzac Square, was built in the 1930s. It provides ample character to the new workplace, including generous ceilings and abundant natural light.

The central location was a key factor in selecting the space, with bureau^proberts staff electing to stay within the CBD within close proximity of CBD transport nodes.

Designed as a vibrant city hub, the new office fit-out was a chance for bureau^proberts to share their philosophy with clients and colleagues in a very personal way. The new plan comprises approximately 80% open space, reflecting the uniquely collaborative nature of the practice.

As an example of adaptive re-use of an existing building, the new fit-out was a great opportunity to engage in environmentally sustainable interior architecture. bureau^proberts are currently in the process of applying for a Green Star – Office Interiors – 5 star rating. The fit-out re-uses existing joinery and furniture, user defined task lighting, energy efficient fittings, and building materials and finishes with low VOC levels.

The design is sympathetic to the original heritage building, emphasising the significant existing qualities of the space and building fabric. The new work is treated as an insertion into the existing envelope.

bureau^proberts postal address, phone numbers and email addresses have not changed, and neither has their open door policy. So feel free to visit next time you’re in the CBD.
